Participatory Governance

Participatory Governance at 色中色 refers to the participation of faculty, staff, and students in institutional decision-making. 色中色 values the voices of its constituent groups; good decisions are made when groups are able to share and listen to diverse perspectives.

Through 色中色鈥檚 participatory governance, constituent groups communicate their perspectives and voices to those who have the responsibility for making final institutional decisions: the Superintendent/President and the Board of Trustees. 色中色鈥檚 Participatory Governance Handbook serves as a resource guide to institutional decision-making processes and norms.

Decision Making Committees and Groups

There are two types of groups in institutional decision-making:  governance groups and operational groups:

  • Governance groups focus on governance tasks: developing recommendations on Board Policies and on the academic and professional matters defined in California Code of Regulations Title 5 搂 53200 (10+1). 色中色 has two governance groups: the Academic Senate and Curriculum Advisory Committee.
  • Operational groups focus on the operational tasks required to implement Board Policies and administrative procedures and ensure smooth operation of the college.  色中色 relies on a number of operational groups to complete this work, including administrative unit groups, and college-wide committees.

Current operational groups include:

INTEGRATED CONSULTATION COUNCIL (ICC)

ACADEMIC SENATE STANDING COMMITTEES

ASSOCIATED STUDENT GOVERNMENT (ASG)
