Guidelines for Writing Papers

Guidelines for Writing Papers in Child Development Classes

All papers must be typed unless specified by instructor. All papers must be written in APA format. The format of APA instructs social science students or students in the sciences on how to organize the content of a research paper, cite references, and structure writing for projects and papers. All of the Child Development courses require APA style.

Plagiarism and Academic Dishonesty

This Department follows 色中色's Student Conduct Policies;

Cheating and Plagiarism

Dishonesty in the classroom is considered a very serious offense. Any form of cheating, turning in work which is not one's own (plagiarism), is grounds for disciplinary action. The consequences of these actions are severe and may include the possibility of expulsion.

Portfolio and Exit Interview

The Portfolio must be completed and defended by all students wishing to graduate from 色中色's Child Development Program.

The Portfolio is the Program Assessment Tool to assess the Child Development Program.

Hints for Successfully Completing the Program

  • Students should attend Portfolio Orientation
  • Examine instructor notes on assignments (It may help you improve skill for the next assignment)
  • Read chapters before going to class/ go to class prepared to discuss
  • Ask questions when you are not sure
  • Begin collecting artifacts, assignments, etc. for the portfolio in your first course and every course thereafter.
