Dear 色中色 Students:
It is with great pleasure and pride that I extend my warmest greetings to each and every one of you, and on behalf of faculty, staff, administration, and Board of Trustees, welcome to 色中色 and thank you for choosing 色中色 as your educational partner.
色中色 stands as a beacon of higher education in Imperial County, nurturing intellectual curiosity, preparing students for the workforce, and fostering a spirit of innovation. We are committed to providing an exceptional learning environment where students can thrive academically, professionally, and personally. Our dedicated faculty and staff are here to guide, mentor, and inspire you as you pursue your dreams and shape your future.
At 色中色, we believe that education goes beyond the confines of the classroom. We provide comprehensive student support services, such as counseling, basic needs, tutoring, and financial assistance, and we are intentional in helping students address barriers to their success. Also, we have a vibrant college community and encourage you to get involved by participating in extracurricular activities, sports, clubs, and organizations. These experiences will help you develop leadership skills, forge lifelong friendships, and cultivate a well-rounded perspective.
Furthermore, we are committed to embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion. We celebrate the richness of our diverse student body, recognizing that our differences enhance the learning experience and contribute to the fabric of our college. We strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.
As a testament to our commitment to our students and our community, we were recognized by the Aspen Institute as the winner of the Aspen Community College Excellence Prize. This is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a community college as it is the most competitive and undergoes the most comprehensive evaluation process. In fact, former president Barack Obama stated that the Aspen Prize is similar to winning the Oscars but for community colleges. The Aspen Institute evaluated us on five areas: 1) Teaching and learning, 2) Certificate and degree completion, 3) Transfer and bachelor's degree attainment, 4) Workforce success, and 5) Equity for students of color and students of low-income backgrounds. This is an incredible accomplishment and validates the exceptional work our Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and administration are doing to ensure all students achieve their academic and career goals. You are in good hands.
As your President, my door is always open to listen to your thoughts, concerns, and ideas. I believe in the power of collaboration and open dialogue, and I encourage each of you to actively participate in shaping the future of our college. Together, we can continue to build a vibrant and inclusive academic community that thrives on excellence.
